Fragrance Review

I know that we are always looking for a new scent or smell that could be our possible signature smell.  Well, LaPazions- I did the same thing but, there is a story that goes along with this… I have to take you back to my very early years right out of high school, going into university.  I had a good friend that worked as a “nanny” for a very well-known family.  The mother always smelled so divine, and I literally like fell head-over-heels for the fragrance that she wore.  I made it my mission to find out what it was and low and behold it was Antonia’s Flowers, well needless to say I couldn’t afford it on a high school/university budget… WHY!!!??

Now, we’ll fast forward to the present times, and now my favorite fragrance has been retired or no longer being produced… WHY!!?? Ergo, I started trying to locate perfumes that possibly had the same notes or familiar smells.  I purchased the fragrance NEST COCOA WOODS, needless to say, the notes aren’t anything close to “Antonia’s Flowers” (This is a face of disappointment).

Let’s get into the review, NEST COCOA WOODS FRAGRANCE is a havier scent, that I wasn’t really expecting since it was on the listing of perfumes that are comparable to Antonia’s Flowers.  The notes are rather strong of the bittersweet Cocoa (very predominant), also are notes wrapped in white sandalwood, Thai ginger, and dry sequoia woods (which feel like they are all competing for the front-line).  I’m not sure if it’s just my body-chemistry or what but, it didn’t smell that appealing.  With this being stated, I have to tell you all they really thought the packaging through completely.  I love the box; it’s a vibrant deep chocolate color with a floral print and the name placed in a signature way that catches your eye.

The bottle is just as stunning as the box, the thought that was placed in the production of this product is beyond beautiful.  The bottle is like a precise duplicate of the box, right down to the floral design, and the allure of keeping this on your beauty table is all there.

LaPazions, as you all know, I also am looking for the story behind the product, and by far, the Founder, Ms. Laura Slatkin, really delivers why she developed this fragrance.  The story is compelling, and has you fall in love with the idea of NEST.  I may not like this particular perfume for myself, but I will be investigating other fragrances that are offered by this brand.  Here is a behind the scent video that details Ms. Slatkin’s passion for this fragrance:

I hope you all enjoyed my review, and I hope if you try this fragrance, you’ll drop me a note and let me know your thoughts.

XOXO

Year-end Wrap-Up

Year end

Wow! Can you believe we’re about to close-out 2019 and usher in another year?  I mean it seems like we just launched into our year and it is now 2020.  With this being stated, we thought we would take a look back at our year here at LaPaz.  We kicked off our 2019 year with something different and inspirational for our stunning followers, which was  “Inspirational Tuesday’s,” that has been received with incredible feedback and positivity:

PhotoGrid_1572962465308 We didn’t know this would lead to such incredible interviews, speaking engagements and so much more.  From here we moved into our Lapazimageing Styling Sessions, where we imparted valuable information regarding dressing your body-type, style inspirations and do and don’ts:

We are on such a roll that we moved forward and landed a stunning partnership with a very talented Nail artist, by the name of Lida (unfortunately we’re no longer with).  This collaboration gave birth to some stunning creations that kept people talking and wanting more.

Crossing over in the new year we have a new nail salon home and stunning artist named Chrissy or Chrissy’s Woodhaven Nail Salon.  You thought Sonya LaRae’s nails were gorgeous well let’s just say she has totally up’d her nail game:

Now let’s move on to some of the fabulous brands that we partnered with and Sonya became one of the best brand ambassadors any company could ask for.  We have the pleasure of collaborating with Clean Skin Club- an organic, vegan and cruelty-free company.  These products are fabulous and have excellent benefits for your skin, the best part of our partnership we’ve secured you a 20% discount by using our code LaPaz01 at CleanSkinClub

Then we thought you all,  also needed makeup that is just as fabulous and stunning as all of our amazing LaPazions!  That lead to a great partnership with Mellow Cosmetics.  Again, Sonya LaRae launched into a full out campaign seeing if the products were as good as the claims that the company was making.  Well, she LOVED the products and again thinking about you all secured an amazing 15% discount, which you can get by using code: Mellow15 at MellowCosmetics

We also still brought attention to one of the most important charities to our entire team, which is The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Team Lapazimageing raised well over $30,000.00 in the memory of our President/CEO-(Sonya) two nieces Desiree and Eleanor, that passed away exactly 9 months apart, from AML.  Our continued dedication moved our team to participate in Light the Night- Please donate any amount www.lls.org

From here we just kept the energy moving from NYFW, PFW, MFW, LFW and not to mention the Grammy’s, NFL Awards, The Makeup Show, Lion King premier, Independent Fashion Awards,  product launches and so much more:

This year has been amazing, unbelievable and beyond our expectations.  We lost an icon in the fashion industry, Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, which was truly a major blow.  We also lost our fur-baby Domingo, our Presidents boy who brought such joy to everyone that met him:

We thank you all for being so supportive, and always encouraging us to reach higher heights.  We look forward to our continued partnerships, new partnerships, collaborations and much more.

Fixed on Sobriety (Weight Loss)

Hey LaPazions, I know many when they see the word “Sobriety,”  they  automatically think you are speaking of either, someone addicted to drinking, drugs or even sex addicts.  I’m not speaking of any of these when I say “sobriety and weight loss.”   This post has a lot to do with me and my weekend, you see this weekend was very special for me due to two major occurrences:

  1. A special observance
  2.  Sip and Chat

I was so excited for both events, but as the dates drew closer I started pulling my wardrobe i.e. Professional Image Consultant (don’t read between the lines because, I’m going to fill in all the blank spaces).  I am very confident in my skin and I am one that believes beauty isn’t superficial, it is from deep within and I own every inch of it… What I am speaking on is this, I have stopped wanting to carry the extra weight on my body, I didn’t like most of my outfits that we pulled for the weekend, I found myself not loving the example (health wise) I am setting for my followers and those that I am mentoring.  I made a “Sober Commitment Agreement” with myself and decided to get real with my diet and choices..

I live a somewhat hectic life and schedule, which means I skip meals, grab what I can get, drink one too many coffee’s, snack on things that I shouldn’t and lastly eat at bad hours.. Yes, that is me Sonya LaRae.. LOL!!  My assistant just passed out after reading this.. Hey, I believe in being real not just with you or my clients but, much more for myself and holding myself accountable for my choices.  Here it is many times I don’t get photographed full-length waist up is always my go to choice because, you kind of have the “illusion” of not being that heavy .  Well LaPazions, here is a full-length picture of myself:textgram_1551572772Yes this is me and oh by the way I wear a LOT of black, but only because I love the color and I think it has become my uniform of choice…  LaPazions  today I am going to take up 7 Commandments to my journey via the fabulous Jillian Michael:

  1. DO NOT OVEREAT (EVEN HEALTHY FOODS):  “Weight maintenance and weight loss are about how much you’re taking in,” says Michael’s. “I don’t care how healthy the food is. Don’t overeat!” she stresses. Granted, healthier foods will do a better job of fueling your body, but at the end of the day, a calorie is a calorie.

2.  COUNT CALORIES – BUT NOT FOREVER:  While counting calories has a bad rap in some nutritional circles, Michael’s considers it to be absolutely essential if you’re trying to lose weight–and she doesn’t budge on that opinion. “You must know the calories,” she says. Michael’s also stated, “I can’t tell you how many times people come to me and they’re like, ‘I can’t lose weight.’ Or ‘I’ve plateaued.’ And then I look at the simple math and I’m like, dude!” While calorie requirements for weight loss are different for every person, Michael’s urges people to get an app to do the work for you—and once you get the hang of it, you can be conscious of the calories in your food without the technology.

3. READ LABELS AND MAKE EATING QUALITY, NUTRITIOUS FOOD YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY: The bottom line is, it’s about the quality of your food. Get rid of the chemicals,” she says. “Read the label. You have to be proactive about your own health in every possible way. And if you don’t know what the hell it is, you probably shouldn’t be eating it.” Healthy food

I have to pause here and tell you all that number 4 has got to be the hardest thing in my diet and life to do:

4.   BE CONSISTENT WITH EXERCISE:  Now this has got to be Michael’s #1-rule for exercise is to be consistent. “Try to go at least four times a week, and try to get in at least four half-hour routines,” she says. “Consistency is critical.”   Look for me I’m just first trying to make it a twice a week consistent routine.. I use to be a swimmer and I swam everyday for years while in middle school – college.. My body was in great shape and  I felt great everyday, I want that feeling again energy!!

5.  DO A VERITY OF WORKOUTS THAT YOU LIKE:  I thought this was such a good suggestion by Michael’s, because it’s really true if you don’t like what you’re doing you will not keep doing it i.e. exercise and dieting.. LOL!!

I refuse to call my new sobriety a diet, I’m determine to look at it as a new way of living healthy and better than ever!!

6.  GIVE YOURSELF A TREAT:  Now don’t get excited reading that, this means that you get to have something that is good but, also not 900 calories…  This means don’t go cold turkey on your sobriety weight loss goal, give yourself permission to have something like a slice of pizza or a scoop of ice cream.. Just don’t go wild on your treating of self..

See I always remember that statement, “What you put in you is what you will get out”  We have to know that our selections are what either helps us to stay healthy or keeps us on our weight gain, unhealthy lifestyles:

Changing Diet

7. MOST IMPORTANTLY, IDENTIFY YOUR “WHY” AND WRITE IT DOWN:  I find this so important when I work with my clients.. You have to know why you’re changing your habits, so this way you can keep your changes and move forward in a healthy lifestyle..

I’m excited to be taking this journey and I hope in a few months I’ll repost another full-length picture and you’ll see the insane healthy lifestyle changes I’ve made..  I cannot wait to hear your feedback on this topic and to see what you’re doing to walk in your Weight loss Sobriety.

xoxo
